Seize the Days, Inc. is a nonprofit organization that documents, shares and celebrates the ways that people touched by cancer add meaning and fulfillment to their lives.
Seize the Days, Inc. was founded in 2010 by Dr. Evan Lipson, an oncologist and cancer researcher whose patients would talk about aspects of their lives that brought satisfaction and enjoyment. Some patients developed new or more intimate relationships with family and friends. Others took up activities, such as painting or poetry, to express thoughts or feelings. Some found ways to leave a lasting mark, often through activism or fundraising.
Dr. Lipson began making audio recordings as a way to explore and share these stories, celebrate his patients, and inspire caretakers and health care team members as they counsel patients and their loved ones at various stages of illness.
Seize the Days is a nonprofit organization dedicated to celebrating and sharing how cancer patients have added unique and meaningful life to their lives. The organization documents, presents, and preserves the stories from patients, family members, friends, and caretakers.
Dr. Evan Lipson founded Seize the Days after seeing firsthand the devastating impact of a cancer diagnosis on his patients. Through his Baltimore-based oncology practice, he treated a diverse group of patients whose lives were suddenly upended by cancer. In treating them, he heard their stories of how they started making big, positive changes in their lives.
The project evolved from a desire to help patients and their families share and memorialize their stories, highlighting their passions, and encouraging more people to live their lives to the fullest.
