A Father and Husband Reflects on His Life

Paul has come to appreciate everything he has like never before. Since being diagnosed with advanced skin cancer, he has taken his relationships with his wife and children to new levels. He has felt the warmth of family and friends as they have brought meals, helped with kids and pets, sent letters and emails or simply prayed for him. In a particularly touching gesture, Paul’s students raised over $1000 and made a donation in his name.

Bringing Light and Hope to a Rare Disease

Krist Schmitt Burr has Basal Cell Carcinoma Nevus Syndrome (BCCNS), a rare genetic disorder that affects the way the body grows and may lead to various forms of cancer, especially basal cell carcinoma, a form of skin cancer. After having two affected children, Kristi founded the Basal Cell Carcinoma Nevus Syndrome Life Support Network, the only organization in North America dedicated to supporting families with BCCNS.

Even Cancer Patients Need Romance

Chris is a three-time cancer survivor. He and his wife Jenny founded “Romance for a Cure”, an organization that raises money for cancer research by selling cookies, cakes and other treats every Valentines Day. Or, as Chris calls it, ” a bake sale on steroids”.
