I had written an initial piece, the blog, to let people know that I’d cancer, what happened. But then I kept going because my family really encouraged me to. They wanted to know what was going on, how I was feeling, things like this. And the inspiration for me to continue writing a New York times.com blogger named Sulekha Jawad who is only 23 with AML. And everything I read of hers resonated so deeply with me that I only felt it was fair that I write down my experiences too, so that maybe someday, someone would be able to read my writing and feel more comforted, or feel like they weren’t the only one going through this terrible thing.

I’ve gotten great response from the blog. Mostly my friends and family, but ultimately, I hope one day that it will fall into the hands of someone in my shoes, and it will comfort them the way Sulekha’s blog comforted me.

I went into the student health building with a sore throat. My doctor there couldn’t figure out what was wrong, so she drew some blood. Found out I had leukemia. that’s why I, Another reason why I really encourage people take advantage of medical care because, a lot of people are scared of going to the doctor, or push it off if they think it’s something minor, but, I just thought I had a sore throat, and it turns out that I have this, I have cancer. had I not gone to the doctor that day I might not have known and it could have continued to grow and become a bigger problem.
